How do I figure out sqrt7(5^10) ?

If your question is: what is sqrt(7) X (5^10)=9,765,625 X sqrt(7)=2.58374... × 10^7

Well, if the answer is 9.966, then the number you have given us is nowhere near that number. If you square 9.966=99.32. So, check your number carefully and see if you made a mistake.

This is an assignment I was given by my tutor in economics.

The equation is as follows:
 

V^0.7 = 5

At the end it says:
V = 5^{10 over 7} = 9.966

OK. You see that is very different thing:

V^(0.7) = 5, we take the log of 5

.7 X V=.69897

V=.69897/.7=.9985 this is the anti-log of V,

V=10^.9985=9.966, which is the same as 5^(10/7)=9.966
