Anonymous has the correct answer, but be careful.....in the second step, he evaluates -1^2   ...and in the third step, that becomes 1 .......this is not correct..... -1^2 = -1

Actually, the second step should be

(-1)^2 + 7(-1) + 10  =  1 - 7 + 10   = 18

I know that this seems nit-picky, but we have a lot of younger members who have trouble with this kind of thing.....!!!

f(x)  =  X^2 -7X + 10

f(-1) = -1^2 -7(-1) + 10

f(-1) =  1 -7(-1) + 10

f(-1) = 1 + 7 + 10

f(-1) = 18
