I find this expression inelegant. Such is my evaluation of it. What does the little hat mean?
When x = 2/3 then (1/4)x2 - 5x + 7 becomes (1/4)(2/3)2 - 5*(2/3) + 7 → 1/9 - 10/3 + 7 → (1 - 30 + 63)/9 → 34/9 → 3 7/9
