So, if you have negative 4 to the exponent of two, would the answer be negative or positive 16? If you have negative 4 within parenthesis with the exponent of two on the outside of the parenthesis, would the answer be negative or positive 16? Please explain to the point that even a 1 year old can understand. (i need good notes on this)

They would both be negative because a negative and a postive when multiplying and dividing equal a negative.
