explain why 92 and 98 are the only two logical choices for the principal square root of the perfect square 8464

90^2 = 8100

100^2 = 10000

And since  8464 lies between them....the square root has to be a number that lies between 90 and 100 and also ends with either a 2 or an 8. This last digit squared would end in a four......no other numbers between 90 and 100 would have an ending digit of 4 when squared.
