f(x)=-2x-7 and g(x)=-4x+6. Find (fog)(-5)?

g(-5) = -4*(-5)+6 = 26

f(g(-5)) = f(26) = -2*26 - 7 = -59

Alan's answer is correct.....Here's a slightly different approach

I first put "g" into "f"

So we have.....

-2(-4x + 6) - 7    =

8x - 12  - 7  =

8x - 19

Now, put the (-5) into this "composite" function

We have:

8(-5) - 19   =

-40 - 19  =

-59

Either approach works...your choice!!
