96x^2-6y^2

Factoring out 6 from (96x2−6y2), we get:

6(16x2−y2)

Factoring the equation above:

6(4x−y)(4x+y)→ final answer

Checking using FOIL method:

(4x−y)(4x+y)=16x2+4xy−4xy−y2=16x2−y2

6(16x2−y2)=(96x2−6y2)

Did I do it right???

Factor the following: 96 x^2-6 y^2 Factor 6 out of 96 x^2-6 y^2: 6 (16 x^2-y^2) 16 x^2-y^2 = (4 x)^2-y^2: 6 ((4 x)^2-y^2) Factor the difference of two squares. (4 x)^2-y^2 = (4 x-y) (4 x+y): Answer: | | 6 (4 x-y) (4 x+y)
