factor  x^2 + 16 x + 64 = 0

 

(x + 8)^2 = 0,  (x + 8)(x + 8) =0

 

x = - 8,    x = - 8

Answer: (x+8)(x+8)

 

We can say this as...

What two numbers multiply to +64 and add to +16?

 

We can find that 8 and 8 add to 16 and multiply to 64.

Now, since x^2 is also 1x^2, this makes it easy. It is simply (x+8)(x+8).
