Let's take it step-by-step......

[3y - 5] / 6 = [2y - 1]/ 3 + 2       multiply through by the common denominator of 6.....so we have

3y - 5   = 2[2y - 1]  + 12   simplify

3y - 5  =  4y - 2 + 12

3y - 5   = 4y  + 10         subtract 3y, 10 from both sides

-15 = y

$$\underset{\,\,\,\,{\textcolor[rgb]{0.66,0.66,0.66}{\rightarrow {\mathtt{y}}}}}{{solve}}{\left({\frac{\left({\mathtt{3}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{y}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{5}}\right)}{{\mathtt{6}}}}={\frac{\left({\mathtt{2}}{\mathtt{\,\times\,}}{\mathtt{y}}{\mathtt{\,-\,}}{\mathtt{1}}\right)}{{\mathtt{3}}}}{\mathtt{\,\small\textbf+\,}}{\mathtt{2}}\right)}$$

$${\mathtt{y}} = -{\mathtt{15}}$$
