The perimeter consists of two straight sides, 2 inches each, and two semicircles, with 2 -inch diameters. The perimeter of a circle is 2*pi*R, where R is the radius. Here the radius is 1 inch, and you have only half of a circle. So the two semicircles each have length Pi. So the figure has perimeter 2 + 2 + 3.14 + 3.14=10.28.
