\(-1+i = \sqrt{2}e^{i*3\pi/4}=\sqrt{2}(cos(\frac{3\pi}{4})+icos(\frac{3\pi}{4}))\)
I did this just by visual inspection of wher the point (-1,1) is on the complex rectangular plane.
I think it is called a rectangular plane ??
I have forgotten a lot of the correct terminology for complex numbers. :(
