Finding the volume of a cone?

The area of the base = the area of the middle rectangle plus  twice the area of the flanking right triangles.......so we have....

4 * 3   +   2 [  2 * 3] / 2  =

12 + 6   =

18 sq cm

And the volume of the cone  [ actually, a pyramid ]  =

(Area  of the base) * ( Height)  / 3

(18 cm^2) ( 6 cm)  / 3  =

108cm^3 / 3  =

36 cm^3
