3y + 6x  =  -24

 

Let's get this into slope-intercept form.  Add  6x  to both sides of the equation.

 

3y  =  6x - 24           Now divide through by  3 .

 

y  =  2x - 8

 

Now we can see that the slope is  2  and the y-intercept is  -8  .

 

To graph it, plot the y-intercept: (0, -8)

and from there, plot a point that is  2 units up and 1 unit right:  (1, -6)  ,

then connect these points with a straight line.  smiley
