A stretch of highway that is 12 1/4 miles long has signs every 7/8 of a mile. How many signs are on this stretch of highway?

12 + 1/4   = 49/4

 

So    ..... (49/4) / (7/8) =  (49/4) x (8/7)   =  (49/7) x (8/4)  =  7 x 2   = 14 signs

 

If we assume that there is also a sign at the very beginning, we can add 1 to this = 15 signs
