Suppose that a and b are positive real numbers, and let

f(x) = ax if x = -4

f(x) = bx if x > -4

If f(-4)=-\frac{60}{13} and f(4)=3120, what is a+b?

If f(x)=ax when x=-4, then...

-60/13 = a * -4

15/13 = a

If f(x)=bx when x>-4, then...

3120=b * 4

780 = b

So, a+b = 15/13 + 780 = 10155/13.
