So when you have something like f(2x)=x+1 and let's say x=1, do you input 2 or 1 for x on the right side of the equation?
(like do you solve 2+1 or 1+1)

+2862 This may not be correct, but I think its for the left side.
Because the only time you plug in for the right side is when it is like this f(1).
Since its just x = 1,
then its on the left side
so f(2*1) = x + 1
f(2) = x + 1
2 + 1 = 3
