First one :

Since we have a segment parallel to a base of a triangle,the sides are in equal proportion...so....

121/ 11 =  (5x + 10)  / 10

11 =  (5x + 10) / 10      multiply both sides by 10

110  = 5x + 10      subtract 10 from both sides

100 = 5x    divide both sides by 5

20  =  x

Second one

MA =  46.2 - 14  =   32.2

BP =  72.6 - x

So, again, we have this relationship

MA /  NA  = MB / BP

32.2/ 14  = x /  [ 72.6 - x ]      cross-multiply

32.2 [ 72.6 - x ]   = 14x     simplify

2337.72 - 32.2x  =  14x        add 32.2x to both sides

2337.72 =  46.2x      divide both sides by 46.2

50.6   =  x
