If one line is parallel to another line, that means that they have the same slope.

In the equation y=(4/5)x + 12, the slope is (4/5).

The only thing we don't know now is the y intercept, but we do know that it goes through (20,14)

We can just plug in that x and y value into the slope intercept form, y=mx+b, and then solve for b. If the slope is 4/5 and it passes through (20,14) then this has to be true:

14=(4/5)(20)+b

b=-2

Now we know the y intercept and the slope. Just plug that info into slope-interept form.

y=(4/5)x-2
