The oppposite line is 45, and the adjecent and the hypotenuse are unknown. If the angle is 8.5, what is the length of the adjacent angle?
a. 45
b. 100
c. 301
d. 304
sorry no matter how much i try to solve the problem, i never get one of these answers. please help
We don't have an angle "length"....I think you wantt the length of the adjacent side
If one angle = 8.5° and the opposite side = 45, the other adjacent [acute] angle = 90 - 8.5 = 81.5°
And using the Law of Sines, we can find the adjacent side, x, opposite this angle thusly :
x / sin (81.5°) = 45 / sin (8.5 °) multiply both sides by sin (81.5°)
x = 45* sin(81.5°) / sin (8.5°) = about 301.102 = Answer "c"
And the hypotenuse = √ [ 45^2 + 301.102^2 ] = about 304.446
