The area of a rectangle is 18 square inches. The height of the rectangle is twice its width. Find the height and base of the triangle.
Let the width of the rectangle be x,
So the height of the rectangle=2x, then we have:
x * 2x=18 sq.inches
2x^2=18
x^2=18/2=9
x=Sqrt(9)=3 inches, being the width of the rectangle.
2 X 3=6 inches, being the length of the rectangle, so that:
3 X 6=18 square inches being the area of the rectangle.
