Using properties of logarithms we get:

log2(16^(1/4)) + log2(49^(1/2))

log2(2) + log2(7)

log2(2 x 7)

log2(14)

Don't let all the notation confuse you. Once you know the properties of logarithms, it just becomes a rearranging game
