The ratio of the number of white beads to the number of black beads in a box was 3 : 5 at first . When 22 white beads were added to the box of beads, the ratio then became 4 : 3. How many black beads were there ?
Let the common ratio be \(x\) then,
No. of white beads = \(3x\)
No. of black beads = \(5x\)
Now, according to question
⇒\({3x+22 \over 5x}={4 \over 3}\)
⇒\(9x+66=20x\)
⇒\(11x=66\)
⇒\(x=6\)
∴ There were 5*6 = 30 black beads.
