What is a rational number and why is it always terminating or a repeating decimal???
A "rational number" means: A number that can be expressed as a "Ratio" of two other numbers. For example:
3 can be expressed as a "Ratio" of two other number such as: 6/2, 9/3, 12/4.........and so on.
7/11 =0.6363636363..................etc, is "rational" number because it can easily be converted into a "Ratio" of two other numbers, which in this case are 7/11, On the other hand, some numbers are "irrational" because you cannot express them as a "ratio" of two other numbers. Example: Sqrt(2), Pi, e......etc.
