I dont know what dilated means but here is the question:
Triangle \(ABC\) with vertices at \(A(1,1)\), \(B(1,-2)\) and \(C(5,-2)\) is translated up 3 units and then dilated with respect to the origin by a factor of 2. What are the new coordinates of point \(C\)? Express your answer as an ordered pair.
![]()
dilated means enlarged.
When the pupils of your eyes dilate, they get bigger :)
C(5,-2)
translatated up three
C'(5,1)
This is 5 units to the right and 1 unit up from the origin
If I dilate it wrt the origin with a factor of 2 then
it will be 10 units to the right and 2 units up so
C"(10,2)
