HARD MATH QUESTION?
A maths teacher bought 40 calculators at $8.20 each and a number of other calculators costing $2.95 each.In all she spent$387. How many of the cheaper calculators did she buy?
Let n be the number of cheaper calculators. Then
n*2.95 + 40*8.20 = 387
n*2.95 = 387 - 40*8.20
n = (387 - 40*8.20)/2.95
n = 20
