Note that the volume should be written as 224 cm 3 (not 224 cm 2) because it is a volume and is measured in cubic units.

The volume of a Cuboid= Length x Width x Height

Volume= L*W*H=(8-cm)*(7-cm)*(H-cm)=224-cm 3 (H is the unknown).

H=224-cm 3/((8-cm)*(7-cm))
OR
H=224-cm 3/(56-cm 2)
(Note that cm is the unit of measure. They are multiplied together too: (cm*cm)=cm 2 for square measure, and (cm*cm*cm)=cm 3 for cubic measure).

When a third degree (cubic) is divided by a second degree (area) the result is a first degree, id est a value raised to the first power. So the result will be H-cm
