A ball is thrown into the air with an initial upward velocity of 60 ft/s. It height h in feet after t seconds is given by the function h(t) = -16t^2 +60t +6.

a) when will the ball reach its max height?

b)what is the balls max height?

c)when will the ball reach the ground?

d)what is the height of the ball when thrown into the air?

time 't' to max height  =   - b/2a    where b = 60   a = -16

Use the value of 't' in the equation to calculate the maximum height at this time

c)     0   is height when ball hits the ground

      0 = -16t^2+ 60t + 6        use quadratic formula to solve for 't'    throw out negative 't' value

d)   t = 0   when ball is thrown into the air

         the equation becomes   height = 6 ft
