I think a ratio is like a porportion

Hi, a RATIO is a mathematical expression fo probability and it may be expressed as a simple justaposition that implies no specific relationship between the NUMERATOR and the DENOMINATOR

 In a clasrrom the ratio of boys to girls was 1:4

(Read as : The ratio was one to four)

1. The relationship indicated here is that there is 1 boy for every four girls
2. The numerator and the denominator are mathematecally unrelated

A PROPORTION is a specific type of ration in which the numerator is a subset of the denominator but time is not a factor.

A PROPORTION always ranges between zero and 1

The proportion of those surviving the disease was 0.41 (53/129)

Here the 53 survivors are a subset of the 129 patients who had the disease.
