Slope   =  subtract the  y  coordinates in  some order   /  subtract the x coordinates in the same order  =

[ 8 - 4  ] / [ 0 - 2 ] =    4  / -2     = -2

The formula for finding the slope: $\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{8-4}{0-2}=\frac{4}{-2}=\boxed{-2}$.
