8 3/8 % = 8.375%  = .08375

So..the amount paid is....

112(.75)(1 - .08375)  =  about $76.97

The customer purchased $84 in pastry.

The discount is 8.375%

Multiply the discount % with the purchase amount, to see how much to subtract.

Subtract.
