Chords AB and CD of a circle are perpendicular, and meet at P. If AP = 3, BP = 4, DP = 2, and CP = 6, then find the diameter of the circle.

You can draw AC and AD, which gives you a right triangle.  The radius of the circle is then sqrt(26).

You can't prove CAD is a right triangle because CD is not the diameter.

Hey guest

We copy AB to the other side of the circle. We can now form a rectangle. We use pythaogorean theorem to calculate the red line, which is the diameter.

$$4^2+7^2=65$$

DIameter = $$\boxed{\sqrt{65}}$$
