Points A, B, C and D have these coordinates: A(3,2), B(3,-2), C(-3,-2) and D(-3,1). What is the area of quadrilateral ABCD?

Note how AB is vertical on the line x = 3, and CD is also vertical on the line x = -3. What does this mean? It means that ABCD is a trapzoid, with a height of 3 - (-3) = 6. The base AB has length 4, and the base CD has length 3. The area of a trapzoid is (b1 + b2) * h * 1/2. (4 + 3)*6*1/2 = 21
