can anyone help me factor these two expressions?
3x2+2x+1
aaand
12x2+8x+4
factoring as in like, (x+a)(x+b) = the original expression when FOILed

This cannot be factorised. The factors would be complex (imaginary) numbers and I doubt you have dealt with those yet.
I know there are no real factorization because b^2-4ac = 4-12=-8 And in the quadratic formula this would be under the square root and you cannot find the square root of a negative number. :(
the second one is just 4 times the first one
12x^2+8x+4 = 4(3x^2+2x+1 )
that is all you can do with it :)
