Exercise: Solve the exponential equation, rounding decimal answers to the thousands place.

4^{x-2}=2^{x}

x=

4^{x-2} = 2^{x}

The idea here is to make the bases equal and then solve for the exponents

(2^{2})^{x-2} = 2^{x}

(2)^{[2(x-2)]} = 2^{x}

(2)^{2x - 4} = 2^{x}

The bases are the same....solve for the exponents

2x - 4 = x add 4 to both sides.....subtract x from both sides

x = 4
