3x + 2y = 5

5x + 3y = 7

We can choose to eliminate y thusly  :

Multiply the first equation  by  3   and the second by -2

9x     +   6y   =   15

-10x  -   6y    =  -14      add these

-1x   =  1       divide both sides by -1

x  =  -1

And using   3x +  2y  =  5   to find y  we have

3(-1)  + 2y   = 5

-3 + 2y   =  5       add 3 to both sides

2y  =  8     divide both sides by 2

y  =  4

So  {x, y}   =  {-1, 4 }
