Identify the domain and range for problems 6 and 7 a ball was thrown into the air with an initial velocity of 72 feet per square second. The height of the ball after t seconds is represented by the equation h = 72𝑡 – 16𝑡2.

h  = -16t^2  +  72t

 

The time that the ball is at the max height can be found as

 

-72 / [ 2 (-16) ]  =  -72 / -32  =  9/4 sec  = 2.25 sec

 

And the  max height is

 

-16(9/4)^2   +  72 (9/4)   =   81 ft

 

The ball wil fall back to the ground  at  2(9/4)  =  18/4  = 9/2 sec = 4.5 sec

 

So.....the domain   is  from 0 seconds to 4.5 seconds

 

And the range is from  0 ft  to   81 ft
