There are some red, green and blue counters in a box. \( {1 \over 3}{}{}\) of the counters are red. There are 53 blue counters and 29 more green counters than red counters. How many counters are there in the box altogether?

Let the total number of counter in the box be y

=> number red counter = y/3

     number of blue counters = 53

     number of green counters = y/3 + 29

       Total = y

=> y/3 + y/3 + 29 + 53 = y

     (y + y)/3 + 82 = y

      2y/3 - y = -82

     (2y - 3y)/3 = -82

       -y = 3 * -82

       -y = -246

There are 246 counters in the box altogether.
