First simplify it a bit:  (add 6 to each side of the equation)

4/3u = 7/3 + 8 + 6      Now add up the left side

4/3u = 2 1/3 +8 +6      Continuing

4/3u = 16 1/3

   Does that help?    What would you do next?

Multiply both sides by 3

(3) x 4/3 u = (3) x (16 1/3)   and Simplify

4u = 49    Now what?    How about dividing both sides by 4

(4u)/4  = 49/4     and simplify

u = 12 1/4     Ta Da!!!
