If we consider a cm^3 = ml     Let's get everything into cm units

1.2 x 10^8 km^2 = 1.2 x 10^14 m^2 = 1.2 x 10^18 cm^2

3700 m = 370000 cm

Volume = area x depth

1.2 x 10^18   x 370000 = 444000 x 10^18 cm^3  (or ml)    Divide by 1000 to get liters

444x10^18 Liters

4.44 x 10^20 liters

Assume the Pacific Ocean has a surface area of 1.2 x 108 km2 and an average depth of 3700 m. Calculate the volume in Liters.

\(V=A_s\times d_a=1.2\times 10^8km^2\times 3700m\)

.                        \(\large\times \frac{10^6m^2}{km^2}\times \frac{10^3l}{m^3}=4.44\times 10^{20} l\)
