If you have adivision expression that has the same base in both the numerator and the denominator, subtract the exponents.

Examples:

1)     x13 / x5  =  x13 - 5 =  x8

2)     x7 / x7  =  x7 - 7  =  x0  =  1

3)     x3 / x7  =  x3 - 7  =  x-4  =  1 / x4

4)     ( 4x3y5z ) / ( 8x4y3z7 )  =  (  4/8 )( x3 / x4 )( y5 / y3 )( z / z7 )  =  ( 1/2 )( x3 - 4 )( y5 - 3 )( z1 - 7 )  =  (1/2)( x-1 y2 z-6 )

                                            =  (1/2)·y2 / ( xz6 )  =  y2 / ( 2xz6 )

5)     (12x2yz5 ) / ( 51x3ab )  =   ( 12/51 )( x2 / x3 )( yz5 ) / ( ab )  =  ( 4yz5 ) / ( 17xab )
