square 1 is inscribed in circle 1 and square 2 is inscribed in circle 2. THe perimeter of square 1 is 24√2 inches and the perimeter of square 2 is 6√2 inches. What is the ratio of th area of circle 1 to circle 2? THANK YOU SO MUCH

The sides of the squares will be 1/4 the perimeters.  The diagonals of the squares will be √2 times the sides.  The diameters of the circles will be the same as the diagonals of the squares.  All that being said, all we need to know is that areas scale as the square of the linear dimensions, so:

 

Area circle 1/Area circle 2 = (24√2/6√2)2 = 16.
