Find the equation, in standard form, of the line that passes through (0,5) and has slope -3.
also, this one even though it's similar, I still had trouble:
Find the equation in standard form of the line that passes through (2, 7) and has slope 1/4.
Thank y'all in advance!
(me keeping cphill's long lasting legacy and signature sign off while he's gone!)
Starting with y = mx + b form
y = -3x + b sub in the point to calc 'b'
5 = -3(0) + b b = 5
y = -3x+5
y + 3x = 5 in standard form
y = 1/4x + b
7 = 1/4 (2) + b b = 6 1/2
y = 1/4 x + 6 1/2
y - 1/4 x = 6 1/2
