0.5(5−7x)=8−(4x+6)    multiply though by 2

[5 - 7x]  = 16 - 2[4x + 6 ]    simplify

5 - 7x  = 16  - 8x - 12

5 - 7x  = 4 - 8x      add 8x to both sides, subtract 5 from both sides

x  = -1
