Triangle ABC is an isosceles right triangle with the measure of angle A equal to 90 degrees. The length of segment AC  is 6 cm. What is the area of triangle ABC, in square centimeters?

If we have an isosceles right triangle....the legs will be of equal length

AC is one leg and AB  is the other

And they both equal 6cm

And they form the base and height of the triangle

 

And the area of a right triangle  =

 

  [ Base * Height} / 2  = [ Product of the leg lengths ]  / 2   =

 

[6 * 6 ] / 2  =

 

36 / 2  =

 

18 cm^2
