In the figure below, ABCD is a parallelogram,AD=18  and DC=27 Segments EG  and  FH  are perpendicular to sides of the parallelogram as shown, and  EG=16 .Determine .FH

The area of the parallelogram  = DC * EG

And this equals BC * FH

 

And  BC = AD

 

So

 

DC * EG   =   AD * FH

 

27 * 16  =  18 * FH          divide both sides by  18

 

(27 / 18) * 16 =  FH

 

( 3 / 2) * 16   =  FH

 

24   =  FH
