106.5% (of the 2010 enrolment) is 965 students

106.5% divided by 106.5 = 1%
so
1% must be 965 divided by 106.5 students
so
100% must be 965 divided by 106.5 *100 students

that is 965 / 106.5 * 100 students in 2010

I'm not sure exactly how to do it but the Melody girl is WAAAAAYYYYYY WWWWWWRRRROOOONNNNGGGG! If the number of students is up 6.5% in 201o, the student number wouldn't be lower than the original year.

"The number was up by 6.5% on the 2010 number."

This means that the 2011 enrolment is greater than the 2010 enrolment.

Somethimes words can be difficult to get your head around.

My answer is not wrong.

if we assume no. of students in 2010 was X, no. of students in 2011 will be X+6.5% of X
i.e. X + 6/100 X =965
or 1.065 X = 965
or X = 965/ 1.065 = 906.103 i.e. 906 Ans.
