Help pls

Beth age = x

Cordell = 2x

 

8 years ago   Cordell was  2x-8    which was 3 times (x-8)

So

 

2x-8 = 3(x-8)

2x-8 = 3x - 24

x=16 = Beth age     2x = Cordell's age = 2(16) = 32 y/o
