A grocer had 48 boxes of tissues. He packed all of them into cartons of 9 with some boxes of tissues left-over. He sold each carton at $12. Each of the left-over boxes of tissues was sold at the same price. He collected a total of $70.50 from selling all the boxes of tissues. How much did the grocer sell each of the left-over boxes of tissues for?

Each contain hold = 48/9 = 5 box

Contain earning = 5(12)

                          = $60

Left over box = 48 - 45 = 3

Let price of left over box = $x,$80
60 + 3x = 70.50

=> 3x = 70.50 - 60 = 10.50

x = 10.50/3 = $3.5
