Since the area of the square is 100, each side must equal 10.  [10² = 100]

Since each side of the square is 10, the diameter of the circle must be 10, so the radius of the circle must be 5.

This means that the area of the circle is:  Area  =  pi · radius²  =  pi · 5²  =  25·pi

The shaded region is the area of the whole square minus the area of the circle:  100 - 25·pi
