If y= (x^2 + 2x + 8)/(x^2 - 4x + 4), at what value of x will there be a vertical asymptote?

You get an asymptote when the denominator is zero.

(x^2 - 4x + 4) factors to (x – 2)(x – 2) so you get your asymptote at x = 2
